There's no "I" in BOSS or Team!
What does your team look like? It doesn't matter what your business or career is, you can't do it alone. If you work from home, you may physically handle all of your work related task but there are things that are in place or that support your efforts of working at home. Your family is your team. They have the important responsibility of making and keeping your home a suitable place to work from. Maybe your kids help with the chores. Maybe your husband helps with dinner or running errands. Those are important duties of a work from home support staff! Does your business require professional photos by a photographer? That's a teammate. Does your business require graphic or website design from a graphic designer? That's a teammate. Does your business require public relations or marketing and advertising? All of the people that provide these services are considered your team.
Your friends are on your team. You could categorize them as your focus group or consultants. Your team doesn't have to necessarily have an actual investment in your business or directly benefit from your profit. You just need people that you can trust and depend on when you need help. I think it's good to have a set list of vendors and companies that you have at your fingertips or on speed dial when it's time to complete a project. Using the same people helps you to build a relationship with those individuals. In most cases if you continuously support people they return the favor. Also, keeping your dream team in consistent rotation helps your customers or supporters become familiar with who you work with and what they have to offer. Keeping every detail of your business consistent shows that you have stability and that you are able to develop and maintain healthy work relationships.
When you have drafted the perfect team, you may find it beneficial to invest in team building workshops. These programs are designed to help promote comradery amongst co-workers and colleagues. Whether you're in the service industry or work in an office environment, you have to work closely with others on a daily basis. It's important that everyone not only get along but also know the best, most effective way to work with each other. These workshops are often times just as much fun as they are informative. The goal is to pull everyone together and revive the excitement of everyone working towards a common goal. Happy people are more productive people! The more productive you and your team are, the more profitable you are. So put your superhero cape away and start focusing on the perfect team to help you Get It Done Boss!
